FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short, direct answers. If yours is missing, write to us.

What is Wirātha?

Wirātha is a digital estate plan. It calculates how your estate is divided under your faith and your country’s law, stores your accounts and instructions in a split-key vault, runs a careful dead man’s switch and delivers messages on the day you choose.

Is Wirātha a legal will?

No. Wirātha is planning software, not a law firm. The will document it exports is a draft to review with a lawyer, because signing, witnessing and notarisation rules differ by country. Every calculation asks for professional review.

Who can open my vault?

Only your chosen key holders, and only together. The vault’s private key is split into three shares and any two open it. One holder alone learns nothing, and Wirātha cannot open the vault without them.

What happens if I forget to check in?

You are warned first, then given a grace period. Nothing is released because of silence alone: the people you chose must confirm before the vault opens or messages are delivered.

Which religions and countries are covered?

Islamic inheritance (Hanafi rules modelled, other schools flagged), the Hindu Succession Act 1956, and the civil law of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada (Ontario), France, Germany, Italy, Pakistan, India, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. Other countries show a clearly labelled generic result.

How is Islamic inheritance calculated?

Debts and funeral costs come first, then a wasiyyah of up to one third to non-heirs, then the remainder passes to fixed heirs (faraid) with blocking and proportional reduction where needed. Wirātha applies Hanafi shares and asks for a scholar’s review.

What is forced heirship?

Forced heirship reserves part of an estate for close family, such as children or a spouse, whatever the will says. France, Germany and Italy apply it in different ways. Wirātha shows the protected part and the part you can freely leave.

Is my information private?

Your plan is visible only to you and the people you name. The calculator on the website runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter there is sent to us.

Can I use Wirātha in Arabic?

Yes. The website and the app work in English and Arabic, with a fully right-to-left layout.

How much does it cost?

The calculator and Estate Score are free. Paid yearly plans add the vault, switch, scheduled messages and will export, and open at launch.

How accurate is the calculator?

It follows published statutes and standard scholarly rules and lists what it could not model — for example half-blood relatives or community property. Treat it as a well-informed starting point for a professional conversation.

How do I start?

Open the calculator and add your family. When you want to keep the plan, create a free account — it takes about two minutes and needs no card.

Give your family answers, not guesswork.

It takes two minutes to see how your estate would be divided. Nothing to install, no card needed.
